For the first time, this exhibition brings to Britain contemporary Chinese art works that had been the highlights of the Beijing International Art Biennale exhibitions from 2003-2015. Under the theme of "Art and Peace", this exhibition will be an art gala for building friendship and peace. It has three-fold significance.
They will bridge the hearts of our two peoples and increase the friendship and mutual understanding.
本次展览将首次向英国观众展现北京国际美术双年展的中国当代艺术精品，展览的主题是“艺术与和平”。它是一次凝聚友谊、追求和平的艺术盛会。我认为，此次展览有三重意义：

First, the art works represent the Chinese people's keen aspiration for peace.
二是体现人类企盼世界持久和平的愿望。当今世界仍不太平，国际形势复杂多变，全球性问题层出不穷，不确定不稳定因素日益增多。本次“艺术与和平”展览，以丰富多彩的表现形式，呈现了中国致力于构建人类命运共同体的美好愿望，寄予了中国艺术家们对世界和平发展的深刻思考和美好期盼，也诠释了人类追求和平的崇高境界。我相信，仿盛大复古传奇，英国观众通过此次展览能够深刻感受到，没有什么比和平更值得珍惜，没有什么比艺术更能抚慰心灵，热爱和平、维护和平是全人类共同的事业。
Finally, they will reinforce our joint efforts to build a world of harmony and a world of lasting peace.

It gives me real pleasure to join you for the opening in London of the "Art & Peace - An Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Art". This is part of the China Arts World Tour. I would like to begin by extending my warm congratulations on the opening of the exhibition. I also want to thank the Mall Gallery for hosting this wonderful exhibition.

一是传递中国人民热爱和平的心声。中华民族是热爱和平的民族。中国自古就提出“礼之用，和为贵”、“兼相爱，交相利”。崇尚和平、和睦、和谐是中华民族的处世之道，已经深深融入中国人民的血脉与灵魂，形成中国传统文化的精神内涵，也成为中国艺术家们追寻和表现的永恒主题。“艺术与和平”展览作品涵盖中国画、油画、版画、雕塑等门类，呈现出中华民族传统文化、当代社会风貌、人与自然和谐相处等精彩内容，构成了一组赞美生命、赞美自然、赞美和平的绚丽画卷，充分表达了中国人民追求和平的愿望。
